Is that really their name?
The following are some people in the Bible who are assigned names yet the original material never named them. The names came later.
Daughter of Herodias
Often considered to be Salome, this woman was never actually named in the New Testament.
She was the one that asked for the head of John the Baptist in exchange for a dance
performed for King Herod.
Noah’s Wife
Although mentioned numerous times, she was never referred to by name in the Bible itself.
The Sinning Woman
"he that is without sin among you,, let them first cast a stone at her." That
was the famous quote from Jesus referring to an adulterous woman. Yet, the woman is never
named and is usually associated with Mary Magladen.
The Pharoah’s Daughter
The woman who found Moses and named him after he was floating down the Nile. Although she
was later given names such as Mercis, Thermuthis, or Myrrina, she was never named in the
Bible.
